   Today I was out and about and took note of the gas prices. Prices have gotten so low all around, that it might not seem necessary to scout out cheap gas. But if your car requires premium gasoline, it can really pay to look around. It seems like for regular unleaded gasoline and the next step up, most places are pretty competitive. But for premium gas, it seems like that’s where some of the biggest differences lie.

For example. At 126th Avenue and 85th Street in Kirkland (nearly to Redmond) there are 3 gas stations. A Shell, a Chevron and a Texaco. Here are their prices as of this morning, December 8, 2008:

Shell at 126th Avenue and 85th Street in Kirkland:
Regular Unleaded: $1.87
Next Step Up: $2.07
Premium Unleaded: $2.17

Chevron at 126th Avenue and 85th Street in Kirkland:
Regular Unleaded: $1.89
Next Step Up: $2.05
Premium Unleaded: $2.15

Texaco at 126th Avenue and 85th Street in Kirkland:
Regular Unleaded: $1.89
Next Step Up: $2.05
Premium Unleaded: $2.69

Wow, that is a big jump to premium at Texaco and not at all competitive with the nearby stations for that grade. That is something to watch out for.

Other gas prices in the area were cheaper:

On my rovings-about the other day, I found the best price for gasoline to be in Redmond, this time. The Arco station at 164th and 80th in Redmond had regular unleaded for $2.35 per gallon, $2.45 for the next step up, and $2.55 for premium unleaded. That’s not just a good price for regular unleaded, but a really good price for the higher grades as well

Local blog help company, Blog Solace, is holding a seminar at the Courtyard Hotel in Bellevue Washington on November 15, 2008. It’s called “Blogs & Blogging in Business” and discusses the different ways the WordPress platform can help both blogging and non-blogging commercial sites.

Park Place Market in Kirkland is doing Trick or Treat for the kids again this year!  This is one of the most laid back and enjoyable places to Trick or Treat in the area, in my experience.  The people in the stores seem to get into it more than in other places, too.  Makes it a lot more fun for my son and me!

Kirkland Park Place Market - 12 Noon to 4 o clock p.m.  They are located on 85th in Kirkland, just west of 6th Street.

These days, the safer bets for trick or treating seem to be going to public gathering places, like malls, instead of door-to-door.  Here is one place I found for Trick or Treat in Redmond Washington.  Leave a note in the comments if you know of another!

Redmond Town Center - 5-7 p.m.  Stores that have balloons on their doors will be handing out candy for Trick or Treaters on Halloween

I couldn’t find many Haunted Houses in Redmond, Washington specifically, but here are the haunted houses I found in Redmond and around the area.

FOR THE KIDS:

Nightmare at Beaver Lake in Sammamish.  This is a very popular halloween event every year at Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish, Washington.  It’s a haunted house in the woods, and you have to get there by travelling through a haunted trail.  The trail is more family-oriented from 7pm to 8pm and gets scarier after 8 p.m.  The event will occur as scheduled, rain or shine!

The Arco station on the corner of 148th and Bel-Red in Bellevue, Washington is selling gas for $2.87 for regular unleaded, $2.99 for the next step up, and $3.09/gallon for premium unleaded, which I think is a pretty good deal for the higher grades.  There was a lot bigger jump between regular unleaded an the higher grades of gasoline I saw at other gas stations.  Even the Arco in Kirkland had a bigger jump between regular unleaded and the higher grades.  Th Arco at 116th and 124th in Kirkland had regular unleaded for $2.87 also, but the next grade up was $3.19 and premium unleaded was $3.29.

I was out doing errands this morning and tried to make note of cheap gas in Kirkland and the area. Gas at the Shell station in Kirkland across from the Park Place shopping center is still $2.99, as is the gas at the Chevron right across the way from it.

But today they weren’t the cheapest gas I saw! I went through Woodinville, and the Arco there is selling it for $2.89! That’s the Arco near the 522 Woodinvill exit (on the same lot as Jack In The Box). They have been consistently higher than that Shell in Kirkland, but not today. Today they were lower.

The only other price I happened to notice was $3.23 at the Chevron in Bellevue on the corner of Bel-Red and 156th. Looks like we are getting to enjoy a bit of a reprieve now from these ridiculous gas prices lately. I do hope it lasts. Right now prices are about where they were almost 2 years ago - can’t complain about that!

Here are a few pictures I took today of fall leaves in Kirkland and some pictures of Lake Washington, Seattle, Marsh Park, etc. from the waterfront on Lake Washington Bouleveard. Today was an absolutely perfect, gorgeous fall day here in the Seattle area, and I went all over the East side enjoying the scenery. The pictures from Kirkland waterfront were the best, though!
